The Difference Between たら and なら

If you meet Hiroko, please hand her this letter.
If you will meet Hiroko, please bring this letter with you.

In sentence (A-1), the incident ひろ子に会う occurs before the incident 手紙を渡す, whereas in sentence (B-1), the incident ひろ子に会う will occur after the incident 手紙を持っていく.

(Incorrect)
(Correct) If you will meet Hiroko, please hand her this letter.

Sentence (A-2) is incorrect. You cannot use ”X たら Y” when X occurs after Y. On the other hand sentence (B-2) is correct. You can use "X なら Y" regardless of the temporal order of X and Y.

If you meet Hiroko, please hand her this letter.
If you will meet Hiroko, please hand her this letter.

Sentence (A-1) and sentence (B-2) are very similar, but different in nuance. ひろ子に会うなら implies that “if you choose to meet Hiroko.”
